Australian Trades College 2011 Year 12 graduate, Benjamin King, was named as the WA school based apprentice of the year in September, demonstrating his commitment to the automotive (light vehicle) trade. As a result of this achievement, Ben represented Western Australia as a finalist at the Australian Training Awards held in Brisbane on the 25th of November, 2011.
Ben is currently undertaking his Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology and is employed as an apprentice mechanic at Prosser Toyota.
Benjamin has always had an interest in diagnosing and correcting problems with vehicles. He chose to attend the Australian Trades College WA in 2010 to undertake an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASBA) as he wanted to complete his high school studies while gaining experience in the automotive industry.
Since commencing his ASBA, Benjamin has participated in work placements which have given him the opportunity to learn a range of new skills across various positions. He is now on track to attain a nationally recognised qualification and has a pathway to university or further training in the future.
Upon completing his ASBA, Benjamin aspires to a heavy diesel mechanic qualification and is considering joining the Defence Force in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineer Corps.
Benjamin should be commended for his achievements in his chosen trade and the College congratulates him on his success. With continued hard work, he is destined for a long and successful career.
